Because Sleep Matters
Popular Mattress of Choice -- Sooo Comfy!
One of the most sought-after mattress, the memory foam mattress is manufactured with polyurethane, a hypoallergenic . The polyurethane is manipulated using special chemicals which make the foam softer in some areas and harder in others.
Obviously, the softer foam is closer to the top of the mattress where people sleep, creating the contour feeling that most people experience and enjoy in a memory foam mattress. Of course, it gets a little more complicated since the denser foam will also mould to the contour of the body as the body heat makes the foam more pliant.
Hazards With the Memory Foam Mattress
Some of the biggest problems with polyurethane is that it is combustible. To make the memory foam mattress industry safer, the US Government has mandated that this foam be resistant to an open flame. Great in concept, not so great in practice since the chemical used to make this type (and other types) of materials less combustible may cause future health problems in many users.
Since a memory foam mattress offers a great deal of comfort to the user, the price to purchase one of these mattresses should be expected to be much higher than a conventional spring and air mattress.
